ROCK LAKE IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION
Board Meeting Minutes, April 18, 2007
Lake Mills Municipal Building
Present: President Karl Vonderohe, Johanna Chworowsky, Jim Colegrove,
Ron Niedfeldt, Stan Smoniewski, Milt Strauss,
Karl called the meeting to order at 7:00 p. m.
Secretary’s Report: Minutes of the March 21,
2007, meeting were reviewed and approved.
Treasurers Report: Jim reported that he had
paid dues for membership in the Rock River Coalition and the Wisconsin
Association of Lakes. He also forwarded a donation of $250 to the
Wisconsin Association of Lakes Legal Fund. Both organizations sent
acknowledgements of the transactions. He reported the following account
balances as of 3/31/07: Lake Management Account --$2344.94, RLIA
checking account--$4145.11, and RLIA savings account--$4137.40 for a
total of $10,627.45. The merged list of addresses of the watershed and
city will be sent by the Leader to Jim. It was suggested that RLIA
obtain the Excel format that the county uses for the watershed and city
so that the RLIA membership list could be revised to conform to that
format and eliminate duplication of names.
Committee Reports:
Publicity/PR Committee: Milt said that RLIA will be giving away
3 t-shirts at the middle school’s Environmental Awareness Day on
Saturday, April 21. The board approved a RLIA display at Town and
Country Days on Friday, June 22 and Saturday the 23rd. Decision on a
float was deferred to the May meeting.
Joint Rock Lake Committee: Stan reported that the committee
discussed the Long range Plan and what agencies and organizations will
implement the recommendations. A letter is being drafted by the
committee to forward to the city regarding expending some of the
year-round ramp fees on projects. A brochure is in the design stage
and may be ready for distribution by mid-summer.
Long Range Plan: The Executive Summary will be sent by the
Leader to the watershed and city. Johanna will refine the cover letter
and submit it to the Leader for printing and inclusion with the summary.
Adopt-a-Lake: Stan said that the annual Rock Lake Cleanup will
take place May 19. He also reported that the RLIA website domain name
has been renewed for 2 years at a cost of $15 per year. Hosting was
renewed at a cost of $53.50 for 12 months.
Old Business:
Karl will be attending the WAL convention for 3 days. Stan will attend
on Friday and Saturday morning and will represent the Joint Rock Lake
Committee. Patricia will be representing the county.
Meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
Next Meeting: Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. at
the Municipal Building
