IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION
Board Meeting Minutes April 14, 2008
Lake Mills Municipal Building, 6:30 p.m.
Call to Order: 6:30 p.m. by Milt. Present - Milt
Strauss, Jim Colegrove, Stan Smoniewski, Scott Johnson, and Patricia
Cicero.
Secretary’s Report: Minutes of March 10, 2008
meeting approved.
Treasurer’s Report: As of March 31, 2008 account
balances were $7,336.59 in RLIA Checking and $4,182.93 in RLIA Savings
for overall total of $11,519.52. RLIA has 131 members. Discussion was
held on combining mailings in the future. Internal audit of books will
be held prior to future formal audit needed because of 5013c status.
Correspondence: Farmer’s Market – will not
participate this year because not enough response; Milt and Stan will
attend Wisconsin Association of Lakes meeting April 17-19 in Green Bay;
membership renewal comments were read. Sympathy note will be sent to
Fran Dauffenbach in loss of her husband, Bob, DNR lake volunteer.
Patricia received the honor of being named to 2008 WI Lake Leaders
Institute. In appreciation for her help and expertise in advising the
RLIA board, a motion was passed to donate $150 to defray her attendance
expenses.
Joint Rock Lake: Stan gave report on planning
pontoon rides for local officials; resolution passed on inflatables;
providing brochures at boat landings; Joint Committee information will
be on Lake Mills Town Board website.
Publicity Committee: Need more user-friendly display
for Town and Country Days; no float this year.
Adopt-A-Lake: May 17 is annual Clean-Up Day.
Old Business:
Legislative Update: phosphorus bill died in assembly;
pier bill passed both chambers and waiting for governor’s signature;
bill to restore independent DNR secretary died in assembly.
New Business: Yearly replacement sampling equipment
was purchased; Jim will check cost of permanent labeling for drains to
lake.
Management Plan for Rock Lake: Discussion postponed.
