l. Call to order at 7:05
2. Secretary's Report: on 4/13/05 mtg. Correction by Patricia on note
that "Melissa will be asking for financial support from the state to
help educate the public". Should have stated that Patricia will be
coordinating lawn soil testing with Melissa Ferman. Reported approved as
corrected.
3. Treasurer's Report: Reviewed and approved
4. Committee Reports:
PUBLICITY/PUBLIC RELATIONS: Milt
presented an excellent "RLIA Publicity/
Public Relations Proposal" that was prepared with Johanna's and
Margaret's
input.
. In the Publicity section of this proposal, under the "Revise and
Update
Brochure-scheduled distribution process
(city addresses?)", we discussed
that we do not have definitive data on
who the brochure was sent to; the
brochure caused some recipients to be
confused because of the request
for names on the envelope and also
inside the brochure.
.There are 2 mailing lists to consider-
1) Watershed, 2) The Watershed and
the City of Lake Mills.
.Johanna will write an article for newspapers on how to get a
brochure if
one was not received.
.Pete will check on old members receiving the brochure.
ROCK LAKE JOINT COMMITTEE-Pete
. Commented on WLA meeting-one of the best-very informative.
. They backed putting lifeguards back on
city beaches.
.Commented on NR326 regulations on piers, rafts, wharfs, i.e. 6'
wide
platform, 4 boats max. per lot:
rules apply to both town and city. Additional
info on these regulations can be
requested from John Molanaro.
. Glen is still collecting data on the dam
LONG RANGE PLAN FOR ROCK LAKE-Patricia
. Next shore line zoning mtg. will be on May 25, 7:00 p.m. at the
Library
. WE had a 37.5% return rate on the Rock Lake user survey. We
should
expect to see a summary on the
results of this survey at the June RLIA
mtg.
ADOPT-A-LAKE -Stan
. Bob Heimstreet is assisting in getting both boys and girls to
assist in
Rock Lake clean up day.
. Sunday, May 15, thirty girls will be assisting in the clean up,
erosion control
and removal of garlic mustard at
Korth Park.
5. Old Business
,Phosphorous Free Fertilizer:
a) Ace Hardware in Cambridge carries
Ph.free fertilizer.
b) Scott's fertilizer is now
advertising Ph.free fertilizer.
c) We need to think about developing a
strategy for Rock Lake watershed
and how we can pull it off.
d) Patricia passed out copies of MN
Statutes; Hennepin Park, MN; Dane
County regulations; expert input
re: Dane County ph.
e) Suggestion was made to get ph soil
test on 10 lake shore properties-
RLIA to pay for tests. Pete made
motion to support the first 10 tests
at a cost of $12 each. Second
Johanna. Motion carried.
6. New Business
.Patricia wanted to know if we would send a letter of support to
Susan
Graham (DNR) for shoreline plantings
and grading in Korth Park.
.Patricia advised that Delores McClay has given a piece of lake
shore
property in Schultz Bay to the state.
Suggested that we discuss in June
what RLIA could do to help restore
shoreline trees and natural growth
that were recently cut down.
.Pete gave a preliminary report on Rock Lake's tax base.
.A mtg. to update the general public on recent Rock Lake research
may be
set up for June 1.
