ROCK LAKE IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION
Board Meeting Minutes Nov. 10, 2008
Lake Mills Municipal Building, 6:30 p.m.

Call to Order: Present - Milt Strauss, Larry Clark, Jim Colegrove, Margaret Krueger, Ron Niedfeldt, Tom Pezzi, Stan Smoniewski and Patricia Cicero. Guests were Jack Pierson, Tom Nightingale, Janet Jenrich, Susan Graham and Rob Waters.
Secretary’s Report: Minutes of Oct. 13 and 23, 2008 meetings were approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Jim said as of Oct. 12, 2008, account balances were $6,900.24 in RLIA Checking and $4,208.52 in RLIA Savings for overall total of $11,108.76.
Correspondence: Notice was received from the Department of Natural Resources of the expiration of the Lake Management Plan Grant as of Dec. 31, 2008.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Joint Rock Lake Committee: Will meet Nov. 11, 2008
Publicity Committee: RLIA will have a display at a craft show on Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rock Lake Activity Center.
ONGOING PROJECTS:
Adopt-A-Lake: No report.
Management Plan for Rock: Boy Scout Rob Waters of Troop 148 will label storm drains to lake for his Eagle Project. The RLIA Board authorized the expenditure of $150 to fund this project.
OLD BUSINESS:
Lake Planning Grant – Susan Graham said a lake planning grant for a study of the cause of sediment entering the west end channel was worth pursuing but she deferred to Patricia for more information. Grant options and consultants were discussed. A motion was passed stating RLIA will apply for a $10,000 lake planning grant and do the necessary paperwork and set up a sub-committee to choose a consulting firm to write the grant to investigate the Majola Shores Channel pollution. Committee members are Larry, chairman, Stan, Ron and Scott.
Parking Lot, North End – Patricia said work has started on the parking lot and Lower Rock Lake County Park and will be done by end of November.
