ROCK LAKE IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION
Board Meeting Minutes Sept. 8, 2008
Lake Mills Municipal Building, 6:30 p.m.

Call to Order: 6:30 p.m. by Milt. Present - Milt Strauss, Johanna Chworowsky, Larry Clark, Jim Colegrove, Scott Johnson, Margaret Krueger, Ron Niedfeldt and Stan Smoniewski.
Secretary’s Report: Minutes of July 14, 2008 meeting were approved. Minutes of annual meeting on Aug. 16, 2008 were reviewed.
Treasurer’s Report: Jim said as of Sept. 7, 2008, account balances were $6,893.27 in RLIA Checking and $4,200.50 in RLIA Savings for overall total of $11,093.77. A motion was approved to have money from the savings account transferred to a money market account.

Jeffrey and Janet Jenrich, W8366 Cedar Lane, visitors at the meeting, asked for help in dealing with a large amount of sediment flowing into the channel by Cedar Lane through a culvert. They asked RLIA to consider applying for a Lake Planning Grant, and then a Lake Protection Grant to cover the costs of finding the source of the sediment and implementing a solution.

Correspondence: A note was received from Paul and Barbara Alry, new members of RLIA. A newsletter will be sent to them. The Tyranena Ladies Club would like a representative of RLIA speak at its April meeting.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Joint Rock Lake Committee: Stan said the Lake Mills Town Board revoked the ordinance regarding jet ski hours until further review. The Town Plan Commission and the Joint Rock will meet Sept. 17 to develop a new draft to recommend to the town for its proposed pier ordinance. Buoy placement was reviewed and two were moved.
Publicity Committee: Johanna said volunteers are needed for the RLIA display at the Fall Festival on Oct. 5.
Adopt-A-Lake: No report.
Management Plan for Rock: Jim said an Eagle Scout will do the storm drain labeling in spring as part of a Boy Scout project.
OLD BUSINESS:
Parking Lot, North End – No report with Patricia Cicero absent.
Schneider Boat House Hearing – Jim said the project was reviewed by the Lake Mills City Plan Commission and some changes were made. The recommendations will be given to the Lake Mills City Council for its approval.
NEW BUSINESS:
Milt will attend the free lake planning workshop in Watertown on Sept. 17. Adjournment: 8 p.m.
