What’s the opposite of green? I’m not sure. But if “green” is
used as a description of an environmentalist, there probably is some color
that is the opposite. Society today seems to want to lump people into
one extreme group or another.
Do you consider the Rock Lake Improvement Association an extremist group? I
hope not. For the most part, we’re pretty middle-of-the-road people
who own boats with motors, go fishing, drive cars, turn on lights, build
houses, and even eat meat. But the one thing we are passionate
about is the health of Rock Lake. That is the only reason for existence
of our organization. We want the lake to remain a pleasure for people
to look at and for people to use, discouraging any practices that contribute
to its deterioration. We take no stands on things that do not affect
the lake. For more information about RLIA, please visit our new and
improved website, www.rocklake.org.
Can anyone who lives in this area be opposed to RLIA’s mission? If
you are, we would like to hear from you. Tell us why. And, if
you are not opposed, we would like to hear from you, too, in the form of
a membership. You should have received a membership form in the mail
recently. If not, download and print it from our website, pick one
up from local shops, or write to PO Box 255, Lake Mills WI 53551. We
will be publishing a list of the members in the festival issue of the Leader. Will
your name be on it?
