WHAT CAN I DO?

Is the summer well enough along that your kids have started asking that?  When my grandchildren ask that, they do not get the non-PC answer that I got as a child, but they get a list of areas of the yard that need weeding.

However, I don’t mind at all if I hear that question asked about Rock Lake.  If you are concerned about the quality of the lake, you might want to know what you can do to keep it from deteriorating.  Here a few suggestions:

You can help the Town/City Joint Rock Lake Committee count boats on August 14.  Pete Ebbott needs three more volunteers.  Contact him at pdebbott@charter.net.

You can help keep phosphorus out of the lake by choosing fertilizer without it and by planting shoreline plants that absorb run-off.

You can join the Rock Lake Improvement Association and attend the annual meeting on Saturday, August 28, at 10:00 a.m., in the Lower Rock Lake shelter.

It’s safe to come to the meeting and ask “What can I do?”  You won’t be asked to pull weeds.
