COWS WHO KNOW WHERE TO…
In Hong Kong we had a very dignified, polite, elderly neighbor in our high-rise apartment building. He spoke just a little English but enjoyed using it with us. One of the times that we met in the elevator, I was holding our cat. He asked if I liked having a cat better than having a dog, and I said something about cats being easier in an apartment. “Yes,” he said, “the cat he knows where to….” After a little pause he said a crude word that I can’t repeat.
Thankfully, the cows in the Rock Lake watershed, so far, have also known where to do that. OK, I guess we have to give credit to the farmers in the area, who have not allowed manure “rivers” to form and eventually pollute the lake. You may be following the events in Dane County, the last of which dumped 2,000 pounds of phosphorus into Lake Mendota. Mmmmm…algae growth…here it comes!
Keep up the good work, farmers. Spread your manure with care!
