Committee Reports

Rock Lake Joint Committee:  Stan presented a rough cut of a powerpoint presentation that would be shown to groups as an introduction to discussions of the City-Town Long Range Lake Management Plan.  Time frame for these discussions would be dependent on awarding of the DNR Lake Management grant.  Most likely the meetings would be scheduled during April and May. In addition, it was suggested that Kevin’s video could be shown in a specialized context as a more technical presentation.  Kevin’s data, along with data he might obtain by working with the White’s water clarity measurements could validate data from other sources already on hand.

When the Lake Management Plan is funded, joint meetings of  RLIA and the Rock Lake Joint Committee would be useful in helping implement the program and also to assist in forming working groups.

Old Business

501(C)3:  Milt reported that the application for recognition from the IRS as a 501(c)(3)

corporation is essentially complete.  He will have Jennifer Colegrove review the final draft.  The application will be submitted by the end of  February.

WAL Convention: Stan and Pete will be attending the April 15-17 meeting in Green Bay as representatives of the Joint Rock Lake Committee and Johanna will represent RLIA.  Patricia

will also be attending.

New Business

Submerged Vehicle:  DNR Warden Dave Walz appeared before the board to report progress (or lack of) regarding removal of an SUV from Rock Lake.  By state statute, vehicles must be removed from the water within 30 days or be assessed a penalty of $721 per day thereafter.  Family members of the driver who drowned in the incident have said they are unable to pay for raising the vehicle.  Dave asked if RLIA would have an interest in helping finance the estimated $3000 cost of removing the vehicle from the lake.  After considerable discussion it was moved, seconded and carried that RLIA would contribute $1,000 and insert a public appeal letter in the Lake Mills Leader and Watertown Daily Times and designate the local bait shops as the collection points. Deadline for the appeal would be March 5.  Dave will try to obtain additional funds from the state.

Meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.M.

Next Meeting

Next meeting is scheduled  for March 10 at 7:00 P.M.

Submitted by:  Milt Strauss, Secretary.
