Discussion
∑ Water clarity shows a decrease over the past few years
∑ Phosphorus level is up

Canada Geese
Discussion
∑ Guest Paul Keller, Summer Manager of Sandy Beach
∑ Number of resident Geese in area are increasing
∑ Main problem with goose poop is people stepping in it and washing off in lake
∑ Most geese are in the Fish Hatchery
∑ The geese only go on the beaches when they have young and the young cannot fly
∑ 8 years ago there were no geese in the park. Now there are 300-500
∑ On worst days, 35 gals of poop have been collected
∑ There has been a 90% reduction in the number of geese at City Beach the fencing and plantings
∑ Motion to do a goose count yearly starting this year around the end of June - passed

∑ RLIA Thank You ad will be put in the free issue of the Leader again this year
∑ Booth at Lake Mills Festival Days on June 28. Motion passed

Lake Traffic
Discussion
∑ Correspondence from Charles Dykman of the Yahara Lakes Association spoke of a decrease in noise after a noise meter was purchased. Some of the decrease was due to just the publicity. 89 decibels is the limit. Some PWC’s were recorded at 85-102.
∑ In some areas limiting PWC hours did not survive a challenge

∑ Milt will contact Tamara Dudiak about PWC hours. May invite her to a Joint Rock Lake meeting

Rock Lake Joint City/Town Committee

∑ New Chairman – Pete Ebbott
∑ Pier Ordinance –City has taken it’s own path with a Pier “only” ordinance. The Town wants a recommendation from the committee.
∑ Launch Fees – Town will raise to $5 from $3 in 2003. Mill Pond is still free. 35 cars were counted there one day.
∑ Motion passed to permit the RLIA President to spend up to $500 have a legal review of the Pier Ordinance proposed for the Town if requested by the Joint Rock Lake Committee.

∑ Maybe meeting could be held at Sandy Beach next year. Need to reserve. $50 charge.
