ROCK LAKE IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION
Board Meeting Minutes June 9, 2008
Lake Mills Municipal Building, 6:30 p.m.

Call to Order: 6:30 p.m. by Milt. Present - Milt Strauss, Johanna Chworowsky, Larry Clark, Scott Johnson, Margaret Krueger, Jim Colegrove, Stan Smoniewski, Tom Pezzi, Ron Niedfeldt, Patricia Cicero and Bob Wardall.
Secretary’s Report: Minutes of May 12, 2008 meeting approved.
Treasurer’s Report: As of June 9, 2008, account balances were $7,324.09 in RLIA Checking and $4,186.48 in RLIA Savings for overall total of $11,510.57.
Correspondence: Wisconsin Association of Lakes membership renewal thank you was received. An osprey pole and platform will be installed in Korth Park in fall. The project is moving forward through the efforts of several people affiliated with Lake Mills.
Committee Reports
Joint Rock Lake Committee: Stan said the main topic of discussion was the town’s proposed pier ordinance. Bob Wardall is a new member of the committee. Little containers will be placed at some boat launches to store information.
Publicity Committee: Johanna said plans are under way for a revamped Town and Country Days display.
Adopt-A-Lake: Annual millpond and lake Clean-Up Day and Garlic Mustard Pull at Korth Park were held May 17 with 32 students and a few adults. Lakeside Lutheran sent a group to Korth Park.

WAL Convention report- Postponed until next meeting.
New Business:
Town Pier Ordinance: Stan said the town plans to amend its pier ordinance to be in compliance with the new state pier ordinance. The Joint Rock and the Town Plan Committee will meet to discuss recommendations.
Goose Count: Milt said the count will be taken at 10 a.m. on June 24 or 25.
Lower Rock Lake Park Parking Lot – Patricia said plans are under way to redesign the parking lot with a grant from the Waterway Commission for $80,000 with the town and Jefferson County Parks Department splitting the remaining costs of approximately $40,000 each.
Mjola Shores Channel: Tests are being conducted to find out why there are no fish in the channel.
