May Minutes 2006
Rock Lake Improvement Association
Notes from May 17, 2006 non-official gathering
Lake Mills Municipal Building 7 p.m.
Only Patricia and board members Jim, Johanna and Margy attended. No quorum, so no official meeting was held and no decisions were made. These notes are informal for board members and Patricia and are not official minutes.
The informal chat revealed that Milt was off enjoying another junket, so we are not sure how many brochures are available for displays during our summer exhibit schedule. Johanna will check on cost if reprinting is needed. She said the local hardware store does carry phosphorous-free fertilizer, so we can push that at Town and Country Days display. More tee shirts have been made, and more XL shirts are on order.
Jim noted the shelter at Rock Lake Park has been reserved for the annual meeting to be held Saturday, Aug. 26, at 10 a.m. The Lake Management money market bank account is being charged $6 per month because the balance is under $2,500. He has obtained a tax-exempt number for RLIA.
A long discussion was held on the rumors/facts concerning the water level of Rock Lake and its dam. Members have received complaints about the lake level, and everyone seems to have a different take on the level and how it got there. Patricia has been closely following the level of the dam because of high water damage to Korth Park’s newly graded shoreline that was graded to get rid of undercut areas and high banks. Additional grading will be required to correct the damage that was done and get the site ready for planting in June.
She has agreed with City Manager Steve Wilke to write an informational article for publication, which hopefully will also be in the Watertown Daily Times as well as The Leader. Discussion continued on how to help resolve the problems with the lake level and the dam.
Johanna is seeking recruits for the first-ever RLIA Precision Drill Team to debut on the RLIA Town and Country Days float.
Hope to see all of you next month.
Margy
